Steve Harvey has to be one of the hardest working people in show business. Not only is he a very successful stand-up comedian, but he also hosts a number of television shows, including Family Feud!

However, there’s probably a lot you don’t know about the 64-year-old. From jobs he pursued to a childhood struggle, here are a few things you didn’t know about the star.

He Was Homeless For a Period of Time

Though he’s uber-successful right now, it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows for Harvey.

In fact, he found himself homeless for a period of time in the ‘80s when a few jobs fell through. He would stay in hotels when he was working, but if he didn’t have work, he’d sleep in his 1976 Ford Tempo.

He Grew Up With a Stutter

Though Harvey is a very experienced host nowadays, it wasn’t always easy for him to speak in front of a crowd. He actually grew up with a stutter and people in school used to make fun of him for it.

Despite the challenge, he actually was able to overcome the stutter thanks to a deli counterman who helped him pronounce words.

Tried Many Careers

Before becoming a comedian and a host, Harvey was interested in a number of different careers. He was actually an insurance salesman, a carpet cleaner, and even a mail carrier, but he was most interested in being a boxer. However, he only got as far as training to become a boxer before he moved on to his next endeavor.
